Operations

Operations Management is an important part of our lives, considering several aspects and involving activities and capacities, being an interesting and dynamic field of activity.

While all the managers deal with planning, organization and control, operations management have as direct responsibility to “finish the job”. The present course can help them develop their daily activity trying to emphasize the frequent problems of the field.

Operations Management presents basic concepts, patterns and managerial orientation, reflecting, in the same time, current production and operations management practices and the results of the field research through case studies and examples comprised in it. As a response to the request of several people working in the field, we tried to balance quantitative aspects and applications that are important in the field.

The course’s structure is based on the “standards of competence” defined by ELA - European Logistics Association for logistic and related fields professionals (purchasing, inventory, planning, warehousing, transportation and distribution); the course analyzes in depth the operations management activity.

Structure: The course covers 60 hours, 6 sessions of 12 hours: 4 hours on Fridays (4-8 p.m.) and 8 hours on Saturdays (9 a.m. - 6 p.m. with lunch break).
Location: Bucuresti, Hotel Caro, Str. Barbu Vacarescu 164A.
Course’s price includes: course materials, 3 months and 2 weeks of access to the e-learning, additional materials, "Operations Management" book,  by Lee J. Krajewski, coffee breaks, lunch on Saturdays. The access to the online e-learning platform helps course attendants learn and present case studies and applications.

At the end of the course attendants will know how to:

  • plan, coordinate and conduct the activity of a company;
  • detail strategic approach at the level of organization from the point of view of operations;
  • learn and manage the value chain at the level of organization and in relations with clients and providers;
  • to manage and conduct projects inside and outside the organization;
  • evaluate and improve organizational processes;
  • evaluate constraints within the organization and be capable to find solutions;
  • establish jobs configuration to improve the efficiency and efficacy of operations;
  • identify the areas that need lean systems implementation and develop improvement processes for them;
  • describe and use identifying and selection tools for locations of different activities (production, services, storage, offices);
  • efficiently follow and manage inventory during all the phases of operations, using the appropriate tools;
  • understand and use forecasting tools as a basis of future operations development;
  • plan operations and sales activity and the necessary resources for them.
